<image:caption>Re-Discovering / watercolor and pen 2021 This is a picture I got on my first week of Art Evangelist School. It represents the door that led to the journey of finding my identity as an artist. Through this painting, God described my process as inviting, interesting, and full of details. Something I will never get tired of looking at.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Javiera Menendez is 19 years old and was born in Durango, Mexico and raised in Santiago, Chile. Since October 2020, she has been a full-time missionary in Mazatlán. God has given her a heart for the persecuted church in North Africa and the Middle East. Her goal is to communicate Jesus’ name and minister to people without words, just colors, shapes, and concepts.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - The Art of Bridging Gaps – with Meghan Dineen</image:title>
<image:caption>What is your personal creative process? Technical? Spiritual? Staring at blank walls. If I have a project or a brief that is given to me, or a creative endeavor that I need to fulfill or create something for, my first step is to spend time thinking about it. I sit on it for a while. I try to envision things in my mind and then will get to the writing process. I often brainstorm, get it on paper whether it’s drawing something out or mind-mapping some things. There will be trial and error while I figure out what is the proper medium or what material would work best. I’ll do a little research on how to use that medium, or look at what other people have done and get inspired by others. I think a part of the process as well is not necessarily copying what someone is doing, but letting it inform you and be inspired by your process too. With that, I think discovering as I go is also a part of my process. I believe we are creative beings and we are spiritual beings too. God very much wants to be a part of this process. I am consciously inviting Him more into the process. I often ask God, “Guide my ideas. Show me how to think about this.” I really enjoy asking the question, “What if?”-- What if we were to combine these two things? What if we were to try this? Happy accidents happen sometimes...and sometimes you just have to start over.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Rapid Fire Round with Lauren on Creating Freely with Kids</image:title>
<image:caption>1 challenge you encountered… The language barrier. I speak VERY little Spanish, and I was teaching art to all Spanish-speaking kids. This was difficult because I wanted to be able to speak directly to the kids without having to use a translator for teaching and questions and conversations. 1 thing that surprised you… The love, interest, excitement and acceptance from the kids, regardless of the language barrier. 1 thing that reminded you that God was moving there… Often, when I saw the kids from the Cerro neighborhood, knowing that they were living each day in an unsafe and corrupt place, my heart would feel heavy and sad. However, I would remind myself of God’s loving and just nature for all people, and that I am a part of this goodness. “Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and destitute.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>How did it impact your life now back in Colorado? I am more confident and excited to bring the joy of art to children and provide an outlet for them to creatively grow in. I’m not sure what is next for me, but I know that I will be creating with the Lord in means of joy, communication and beautiful expression. Lastly, what is your current favorite art medium? My current favorite art medium is my watercolors. I travel and move around a lot and have found that the portability of my watercolors is the easiest and most optimal for my creative processes.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Rapid Fire Round with Lauren on Creating Freely with Kids - 1 lesson you learned from this experience?</image:title>
<image:caption>God shows up when we do. We are the pathway for the Spirit to work. So on the days that I felt tired, sick or under-prepared, I came to learn that as long as I still showed up each week for art classes, I would see amazing rewards and affirmations of the Lord at work.</image:caption>

Murals are necessary because they can bring beauty where there is none, or further beautify a place that is already beautiful; a mural speaks of the process and work to capture something on a wall. They impact the world because they transmit the heart of God. It is a skill that God has given us to be able to use our imagination and share the beauty and power to transform and give life to a wall.</image:caption>

When we participate in co-creating with the Holy Spirit there is a much greater purpose. We begin to be more aware of the impact that it produces when we proclaim truth of the Kingdom with art, or simply something beautiful that speaks to the loveliness that creating art for and with God brings.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Hope in the Unseen</image:title>
// "This season has been a real challenge to trust God with all the unknowns. I started dealing with anxiety, feeling overwhelmed most of the time, and even sadness as I was making up scenarios of what could potentially happen. It truly felt that I was always in darkness… It still feels this way sometimes. But one day, God spoke to me and said, “Fix your eyes on what is eternal, unchanging. I will never leave you, and I will always guide you. You’re mine forever.” It changed everything. I could breathe and remember who Christ is for me. Circumstances are always changing, seasons will always be a variation of ups and downs, but Jesus will always be the same. " –Clémence Bonin (France)</image:caption>

      <image:title>Hope in the Unseen</image:title>
<image:caption>"The storm in our minds can become a veil to prevent us from seeing the hope that is to come. In a time when there are many uncertainties, hope is frightening because it is unknown and yet it is also the very thing we long to hold onto. Hope is a feeling of something that is coming...it is something you may not know what it is or when it will be, but there is a feeling something better is to come. Hope is like a light that is within you and it wants to shine through to be the very light you see. When you plant a seed, you know something beautiful is going to come, but you cannot see it….yet. What could be this storm in one’s mind? Anxiety? Fear? Worry? Depression? I don’t know the things your heart is going through right now, but no matter where you are, know this: you are deeply loved and cared for! Turn your eyes to Christ the Creator, Savior, Redeemer -- our hope -- and ask Him to unveil anything that might be hindering you to see the full Hope that is to come because God is on the throne and reigns above it all." –Hannah Siu (United States)</image:caption>

      <image:title>Hope in the Unseen</image:title>
<image:caption>“This piece was created with acrylic paint and inspired by the view outside my window. During this time of quarantine, being inside my house has been bittersweet. I feel bitter not being able to see what’s going on. Also because of the awareness that there’s a lot going on. But at the same time, being able to just stop, rest, and breath feels sweet. Sometimes spending too much time inside the same place can feel dark and hopeless. But every time I see through my window, I can see hope. Every time I see the trees moving from the wind, I see hope. Every time I see the shapes of the clouds and the sunset dyed with thousands of colors, I can truly see hope. Hope to believe that this is not the end. This is just a pause and I need to have hope for the time that is coming. Hope to wait for that desire. Hope to desire for that awakening. The black color represents the bittersweet feeling of being inside home. Hope is represented in the sunset that you can see out of the window.” –Gerardo Ramirez (Mexico)</image:caption>

<image:caption>"There are times in life where we are tangibly aware of growth and something happening –changing perhaps– inside us, be it mind, heart, body, or otherwise. And then, there are those other times –more commonly maybe– where it just isn’t seen. No abrupt changes of direction, confronting emotions, profound soul searching or the like… but just a kind of knowing. A perceiving and trusting –nay, hoping– that there are in fact changes occurring, something having been set into motion that will not leave us the same as we were. We shall be better for it, for this innerworking deep within." –Meghan Dineen (United States)</image:caption>

<image:caption>"Have you ever thought about how God has already let us into His plans? We get the privilege of knowing what comes after the egg, chrysalis, and bud. <image:title>Hope in the Unseen</image:title>
<image:caption>"This piece was created with the heart of expectation. I explored the way the light falls on the planes of the face as the sun rises. While the sun sets, we know for sure that it will rise again, night is merely a shadow and we can wait with expectation for the sun’s rays to again warm our faces. I wanted to convey through this metaphor the assurance in which we can actively hope in times of darkness. That to ‘hope’ is maybe not to only dream of a hypothetical possibility, but rather in peace we can hold this tension of waiting in faith for the future, while investing a period in the shadows. Time is not wasted and it’s faith that makes us sure. Hebrews 11:1" –Michaela Simon (Australia)</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - Art Evangelist School 2020 World Outreach Exhibition</image:title>
<image:caption>This group of Art Evangelists dedicated six weeks to honing artistic skills and using visual arts as a tool to connect with others. The troop set out to collectively discover and create something with God. Granted, it has been done on a primarily virtual platform, as you are viewing here. The aim was to be able to bear witness to the glory and presence of God through creative means, sharing with those near and far via mail, video-call, social media, etc. Here we submit to you a body of works that have been prayerfully prepared in tandem with Holy Spirit, in hopes that each will speak to you; may they plant seeds of wonder, open a spiritual conversation, inspire faith, give you reason to hope, bring about joy, and in it all set the platform for Creator himself to be revealed.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Gallery - Hope In The Unseen</image:title>
<image:caption>What is God doing during sheltering-in-place? A question that has been asked again and again throughout this unique season of life. This period of hiddenness can bring about a wide range of emotions from fear and discomfort, to reflection and curiosity. It can feel quite shaky not knowing what is to come. As children of the Most High, we have the choice to actively demonstrate our faith at this hour, more than possibly ever for some of our lifetimes. A faith that there is so much more behind the scenes. Where our blind spots sit, there also is transformation, revolution, and growth. Within our faith lives the knowledge that He has done miraculous things before and will continue to do it again. Artists from across the nations visually bear witness to how they have seen hope in a time of solitude and uncertainty.</image:caption>

// “Acceptance Through Dissociation” (Color Markers, 70 x 40 cm) Sometimes it’s better to forget you know. Sometimes it’s healthier to just forget and let things heal. You know how God always transforms something bad into something good? Well sometimes I think that God transforms this illness into something good, giving me the chance to let myself just leave all the stuff in the past and continue moving forward. Even though sometimes there are pieces of myself that I have been left behind, I know that in my holes God keeps making life come out of them. I wanted to represent that with this art piece. That sensation of accepting what you are going through and giving grace to yourself.</image:caption>

// “Healing and Growing” (Color Markers, 50 x 90 cm) The best we can do is to let ourselves grow and heal. We don’t have to do it completely alone, there’s always someone that will be on your side. Even though I was dissociating through my life, I always had people on my side helping me to grow and heal. People who taught me how to give grace to myself, how to be gentle with myself, and how to keep growing in hard and dark situations. Within this piece, the plants represent life and the bandaids represent the wounds from the past and how life always can come out from them.</image:caption>

Siempre he encontrado confort en otras personas. // “Comfort” (Color Markers, 60 x 90 cm) This is my favorite piece from the whole exhibition. We can find comfort in many things; maybe in reading a book, painting, drinking some tea or being with your loved ones. I always have found comfort in other people. Whenever I had a breakdown or felt frustration or anger, being able to go to people and find comfort was amazing. Also finding comfort in God. That has been one of the main things that has helped me to get through all of this. We can look to humans, searching for comfort in each other, that’s what I wanted to represent in this art piece. That feeling of wholeness and closeness, that feeling of hope for the future.</image:caption>

// “Frustration” (Color Markers, 40 x 70 cm) I think we can all agree that this is one of the most common feelings. Personally, it’s one of the strongest feelings I have ever experienced through my whole life. Sometimes it comes because I just can’t remember exactly what happened, or because I can’t actually do things as much as I would love to. It feels like a part of you is leaving your body and never coming back. That’s what I wanted to represent with this art piece, the pure feeling of frustration.</image:caption>

Yo si lo he sentido bastante. // “Walking Without Seeing” (Acrylic Paint, 50 x 80 cm) Have you ever felt like you are just walking without knowing where you are going? I sure have. In my walk with Christ I have experienced walking towards a goal, or simply walking down a path where I can’t exactly see where I’m going. But, even though I can’t completely see, God always has lit up my path so I can walk down it. In this painting we can see a person walking through a really pitch black forest, wearing all white, with a little light making sure he can keep walking. There’s also snow falling down, giving that sensation that our little man over there has walked a long way already.</image:caption>
